The HORIZONS Box
The HORIZONS Box is a physical collectors piece to commemorate the release of D.Zimm’s first full length EP. The handcrafted box is a piece of art in itself, and is meant to withstand the tests of time. In the ephemeral world that we live in, David wanted to pay homage to a simpler and slower time, when craftsmanship was superior to rapid growth. The box was designed by David. He teamed up with longtime friend, Todd Conger (Makeshelter) to bring this elegant piece into tangible form. DZ brought Todd on for this project because of his masterful ability to bring physical items to life through natural elements of the earth, and their shared love for their pacific northwest roots.
BOX DETAILS
This box is made out of walnut, with brass hinges and a magnetic closing mechanism. Each panel corner shares two lighter colored wooden dados to contrast the dark walnut finish. The laser-etched and burned D.Zimm 333 flower logo acts as preview lens into the box, which is fastened on the bottom with plexiglass and brass screws. The inside of the top panel has more laser-etched and burned detailing, with the HORIZONS word mark and a custom QR code that gives access to listening experience.
CONTENTS
In the interior of the box, you’ll find a custom made HORIZONS 3D viewfinder, which also pays homage to the past. D.Zimm has been channeling his inner child since he left the corporate world to pursue art, music, poetry. His creative spirit is coming back in full force, and he wanted to commemorate this spirit through one of his favorite toys as a child. The 3D viewfinder teleported him to a whole new world in 3D, before we had the ability to do so in the palm of our hands. The viewfinder contains unreleased photography from the music video shoot in Arrowbear, where the team of 4 people shot 6 spoken word music videos and the Stars Align music video in 2 days and 2 nights.
The box also contains a bottle of organic extra virgin olive oil from his health and wellness brand, Herb & Olive.
The HORIZONS Box was constructed by longtime friend, Todd Conger (makeshelter).
